The Lazy Lobster — the seasonal seafood spot that has served buttery lobster rolls on house-baked baguettes just steps from Walnut Beach since 2005 — has reopened at 6 Broadway under new ownership after a significant expansion.

The new-look restaurant, which sits at the corner of Broadway and Naugatuck Avenue, now features an indoor dining room, a second bar, and an expanded menu that adds a new taco section, a smash burger, and several other items alongside the establishment's signature lobster roll.

Opening night reviews were enthusiastic. Milford diner Felicia Hudson, who visited on the first night of service, wrote in a Google review: "Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Met the owners and they were lovely. Smash burger was top notch. Lobster roll was excellent, plentiful and hot. Definitely will be back."

What's New

The expansion is the most significant physical change to The Lazy Lobster since a previous update in 2025 added a full bar. Under the new ownership, the space now includes a full indoor seating area — a departure from the restaurant's traditionally patio-forward, beach-shack feel.

The menu changes are noticeable. A new Tacos section on the menu features:

  • Lazy Lobster Taco ($36) — street-style with lobster meat, cilantro, radish, and crema
  • Cajun Shrimp Taco ($23) — spicy Cajun shrimp with pickled onion and house salsa
  • Ribby Taco ($19) — chopped rib meat with roasted corn salsa
  • BBQ Chicken Taco ($19) — pulled BBQ chicken with slaw

The restaurant has also expanded its Mac & Cheese offerings (including a $40 Lobster Mac), and continues to feature its 48-hour baby back ribs, the "Ribby Roll," Cajun shrimp po' boy, and the signature Lazy Lobster Roll (market price) — sweet Maine lobster tail, knuckle, and claw meat piled on a fresh baguette with butter and sea salt.

A Community Landmark

The Lazy Lobster has been part of the Walnut Beach dining scene for two decades, alongside other neighborhood staples like Walnut Beach Creamery, the Walnut Beach Coffee House, Papa's Pizza, Nautilus, and Ambrosia Bakery. The restaurant closes each winter and traditionally reopens in the spring.

Not every longtime customer has been unreservedly enthusiastic about the changes. On the restaurant's Facebook page, one commenter wrote that "the beach vibe is gone" and asked the new owners not to change the food. The restaurant responded publicly: "We actually have a huge surprise for you in the main bar area! We have kept the beach vibe, we PROMISE!"

The restaurant's tongue-in-cheek slogan — "living the lobster lifestyle" — remains, as does the trademark lobster-in-a-beach-chair logo.
